This book is based on a set of 18 class-tested lectures delivered to fourth-year physics undergraduates at Griffith University in Brisbane, and it presents new discoveries by the Nobel prize-winning LIGO collaboration. About Editors

Michael Hall received his PhD from the Australian National University in 1989. Since then he has worked in various areas of the foundations of physics, from both inside and outside academia (including a year as a Humboldt Fellow in Ulm, and 16 years as a patent examiner). For the last six years he has been a research fellow in the Centre for Quantum Dynamics at Griffith University in Brisbane and has recently taken up a visiting fellowship at the Australian National University in Canberra.
