In this book, some of themathematical fundamentals of quantumoptics are introduced in a way to be understandable and usable by senior undergraduate and first-year graduate students. The amount of material discussed is huge; one can find the definition of all kinds of states including squeezed and cat states. The typographical presentation is very good and some figures are in colour. The book is available in e-version as well as printed with a hard cover. I found a very few misprints and believe its reading can be very useful to people who already know about the subject and wish for a short reminder of it.

About Editors

Perry Rice earned a BS in physics at Wright State University in 1981. After two years in industry, he went to graduate school and earned a PhD in physics at the University of Arkansas in 1988. He went on to become a professor of physics at Miami University for 30 years, and most recently is a senior research scientist at Azimuth Corporation. His research has been primarily in quantum optics and physics pedagogy, with specialties in cavity/waveguide quantum electrodynamics, nonclassical light, strongly coupled atom-field systems, quantum statistical mechanics, and computational methods including quantum trajectory theory.
