The Cosmic Evolution of Galaxy Structure

Christopher J Conselice

Description

The book will give a pedagogical review of the structural evolution of galaxies, filling a gap in the book literature. Young galaxies are peculiar/irregular in appearance, are small, very blue and have low masses. Over time we can see galaxies and their structures grow in mass and size and change in appearance. However, much like trying to determine how a person lives and grows just from random pictures in a family photo-album, this does not give the entire story.
